What Does This Month Mean To You?
October is now upon us, the month of Breast Cancer Awareness. But have you really thought about what this means? All of these campaigns you run for, donate to, and like, share or preach about—what are you supporting? As hype builds around 'Going Pink,' the real issues we should be advocating often get lost in the excitement. In this blog post, we discuss something we strongly advocate—Breast Thermography, one of the best and safest early detection tests available.
Why is Breast Thermography So Cool?
According to the American College of Clinical Thermography, Breast Thermography is a 15-minute, non-invasive test of heat patterns that are strongly indicative of breast abnormality. The test can detect subtle changes in breast temperature that indicate a variety of breast diseases and abnormalities. It is a valuable procedure for alerting your doctor to changes that can indicate early stage breast disease.
This procedure offers the opportunity of an even earlier detection of breast disease than has been possible through breast self-examination, doctor examination or mammography alone. Also, unlike mammography, there is no radiation or breast compression. In fact, the American Journal of Radiology reports that Breast Thermography has a 90% specificity rate and a 99% sensitivity rate. No other screening method for breast cancer comes close to these rates.
What You Should Do
This month, we encourage you to become better educated about breast cancer, detection methods, treatments and even the charities and movements you advocate. We support raising self-awareness for breast cancer—which means regular self-exams, understanding alternative options for early detection, such as Breast Thermography, and knowing ALL of your choices should the worst-case scenario happen. Educate and empower yourself with preventative health practices and think outside the box when it comes to cancer awareness. Read this letter from our Founder, Dorian Ayres, about why we want you to invest your time—not your money—learning about healthy living.
What You Should Know
There are safer and more accurate alternatives to mammograms and other traditional detections and treatments out there. Research them, become an expert, get them, and share these healthier methods with your loved ones… we just did.
